Lewis Steer MRCVS BVM&S BsC
Clinical Director
Lewis Steer vet and Clinical Director joined the Buchan and Deveron Veterinary group earlier this year. He looks after all of the practices in the group to ensure smooth running and excellent clinical care of your pets. Lewis is passionate about giving our clients and their pet’s the very best service and providing outstanding out of hours emergency care.

He has two dogs, Toby and Nell, and also two budgies. Lewis looks forward to treating all of your special pets.
Bruce Armstrong BVM&S MRCVS
Bruce has many years of experience in all aspects of veterinary medicine and surgery, with a particular interest in production animals and equine. Bruce is a keen quad biker and enjoys skiing and hill walking in his spare time.
Dr Emma Carmody BSc DVM MRCVS
Emma is an Australian veterinarian who graduated from the University of Melbourne. She spent a few years working in a mixed practice equine hospital in Far North Queensland before joining the Buchan team in late 2018. Currently, Emma is working towards her Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice with a focus on equine dentistry. Emma lives with her dog, Bullet, an English Staffy who also made the trek over from Australia. Both of them enjoy the cold weather, and still get excited about snow!
Victoria Fowlie MVB MRCVS
Victoria works with pets, horses and farm animals. Born in Ireland, Vicky qualified from Dublin and moved to Scotland as a new graduate, where she married a local farmer and never looked back. Outside of work she loves yoga, spinning and walking.
Dr. Marc A. Kulessa MRCVS
Head Veterinary Surgeon
Marc is a small animal vet mainly based in Fraserburgh. He is one of our two German vets. Before starting vet school and graduating in 2016 he was already fully qualified as a vet nurse. After working for a small animal practice in Yorkshire he decided to move up north and joined us in February 2020. Outside of work, he likes to go fishing and hiking with his wife and dogs as well as playing a proper board game.
Dr. Patricia Kulessa MRCVS
Patricia is a small animal vet who mainly works in our Peterhead practice. Originally from Germany she started working in Yorkshire shortly after her graduation from Giessen University, Hesse in 2016. Early 2020 she moved to Scotland and joined our team together with her husband, our other German vet. In her free time she enjoys hiking with her dogs, travelling, cooking and a good book.
Mauro Larghi BVMS, MVS and MRCVS

Mauro qualified as a Veterinary Surgeon in 2004 and joined our team in 2018. Mauro has worked in many different countries over the years; he has worked with beef herds and polo horses in Argentina, Spanish fighting bulls in Spain, dairy cows and thoroughbreds in Ireland, mixed animal practice in Jersey, and farm and equine practice in Cornwall. Mauro has a particular interest in herd health, recently publishing a paper on BVD control, as well as equine fertility work.

Mauro lives with his wife and daughter.

Lindsay Leonard DVM MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon
Lindsay went to Ross Veterinary School in St.Kitts and then completed her final year at the Dick Vet in Edinburgh in 2019. Lindsay loved Scotland so much that when it was time to leave, she didn't want to and has been here ever since!

Lindsay enjoys spending her free time perfecting her banana bread recipe and hiking with her dogs and going horseback riding. Lindsay is an avid cat lover and would be over the moon to see any and all of your feline family members!
Liz Mallia MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon
In 2022, Liz graduated from the University of Veterinary Medicine in Budapest as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. During her first year as a veterinary surgeon, she worked in a mixed practice in Northern Ireland. In 2023, Liz moved to Scotland and joined the team here at Deveron vets.

Outside of work, Liz rides horses, ventures the countryside with her cat, and explores her artistic side by drawing and painting.
Alison Smith BVMS MRCVS
Alison is a small animal vet, mainly working in our Fraserburgh practice. She graduated in 2010 from Glasgow University and came home to Fraserburgh in 2015. Outside of work Alison is a member of FJAS, the local amateur dramatics society, mainly behind the scenes.
